Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Expedition

Year 10 students have recently completed their Bronze DofE Award Expedition

Year 10 students have recently completed their Bronze DofE Award Expedition section, walking from Jack Hunt School to Sacrewell Farm, near Wansford. The students did exceptionally well collaborating in their walking groups, navigating with OS maps and compasses to Sacrewell Farm on Day 1 of the assessment.

Once the students arrived, they had to make camp erecting their tents and cooking an evening meal using the Trangia camping stoves. As part of the expedition assessment all students must cook a hot meal and breakfast. The students used all the skills they had learnt whilst undertaking the weekly training sessions at school with the DofE staff.

On day 2, the students had to navigate back to school using a slightly different route. The weather was kind this year and the students did well. As ever, I would like to thank the staff who volunteer their time to support expeditions, who without them, we couldn’t run DofE at Jack Hunt School!

Congratulations to all the students who participated and look out for the Silver Award letter coming home soon…
