Suzanne Tuck is a member of staff within the Learning Support Department at JHS and was chosen to take part in an article by Good Housekeeping magazine in partnership with the National Literacy Trust about inspirational Literacy Champions.  Suzanne started volunteering nearly four years ago after hearing that Peterborough had become one of the National Literacy Trusts Literacy Hubs.

Suzanne commented Reading for me, is the key to life.  It opens up confidence and curiosity and unlocks an understanding of so many other important subjects.  A fun approach from an early age can be the spark to ignite the reading flame.  That's how I approach being a Literacy Champion.

Suzanne works with small literacy intervention groups at JHS to help students develop and build on their existing literacy knowledge and understanding. This is carried out in a way that encourages a thirst for reading across different media which can have a positive impact academically, but also lead to positive social and emotional outcomes too.
