Football Triumph at Peterborough District U14’s Cup Final

3pm yesterday afternoon was kick off time for the Peterborough District Cup Final at The Grange – Jack Hunt U14s vs Stanground U14s.  Read Mr Barrick's blow by blow match report to see how the Year 9 team performed:

The boys played two halves of 35 minutes, with Alfie Ferguson and Luke Whitehead both scoring within the first 4 minutes, to go 2-0 up. Stanground then got into the game and created a few chances scoring their first goal 5 minutes before half time taking the game to 2-1 at the break.

Jack Hunt started the second half well, but were met by a more attacking Stanground, who went close to equalising with a headed attempt at goal going just wide of the post.  Then Alfie Ferguson  went close with an effort across goal which just skimmed the post!

The Jack Hunt team then took advantage of some poor defending from Stanground with a goal from close range. However, Stanground’s heads did not drop, once again they created another couple of chances to score, after Jack Hunt’s back line was changed with substitutions.

Within the dying minutes of the game, Stanground scored a goal to take it to 3-2, luckily with only seconds left to play, it did not impact on the game too much. The game finished 3-2 with everyone playing extremely well.

Well Done Boys!!
