Former Student Presents his Signed GB Shirt to the School

Lee Manning, a former Jack Hunt  student who is now playing professional wheelchair basketball returned on Monday to present the school with his signed GB shirt which will be framed and displayed in our reception.

Lee first began playing wheelchair basketball at a taster session at school and is now fortunate enough to be a full time athlete, playing professionally in Italy for the 2013 / 2014 season and, he has recently signed a 3-year contract to play full time in Spain (Albacete). He has had a great start to his new career in Spain by recently winning the Champions Cup with his team and being named MVP (Most Valuable Player) for the tournament.

Lee is now a regular in the GB team and was part of the World Championship team that travelled to South Korea in 2014. He is now working hard to make the GB team for the 2016 Rio Paralympics. He has quite an intense daily training regime, spending 5 hours either court work or off-court preparation, including gym work, rehabilitation as well as video analysis of previous and games and future opponents.

Last week Lee was part of the successful GB team that won Gold at the European Championships which took place at the University of Worcester’s state-of-the-art Arena.

We wish him all the best for the future and we look forward to keeping you informed of his results and successes.
