Year 10 GCSE Curriculum Information Evening - Thursday 8 October 6.30-8.00pm

Our Year 10 Curriculum Evening, Dreams & Aspirations Part 2, will take place on Thursday 8 October 2015 for students with their parents/carers.

This is an opportunity for students and parents/carers to hear about core subjects with presentations from English (Mrs Phillips), Mathematics (Mr Young) and Science (Miss England), followed by a rolling programme of 10 minute presentations by Curriculum Area Leaders for Geography, History and Modern Foreign Languages for those students studying these subjects (there will be handouts from these and other subjects to take away).  Each presentation will outline:

  •  A course overview
  •  Actual examinations – dates; content; preparation and grade boundaries
  •  Controlled Assessment
  •  Revision and Preparation for exams – mock exams; mock results day; other assessments; tracking progress;    intervention; organised revision tips and activities
  •  Learning Resources
  •  How parents/carers can support learning

There will also be further presentations about Work Experience, Work Related Learning and our online homework/revision resources.

Research shows that students whose parents take active role in their learning outperform those where this is not the case and we would therefore recommend that you are able to attend.  Year 10 Parent or carers only please click here to complete the online reply slip if you would like to attend.

Curriculum Information sheets will be provided for all parents/carers by the curriculum areas summarising the key bullet points above for each subject.  Contact details will be provided should parents/carers require any further clarification or have any questions.  Presentations and information sheets will be made available to parents after the event on the website.
