Much Ado About...World Book Day

In recognition of World Book Day members of the English Department have joined thousands of children and staff around the country by dressing up as their favourite Shakespearean character or their interpretation of one.   These included Hamlet, Titania, First Witch and of course, Macbeth.  The staff also wore placards featuring their favourite or well known lines from Shakespeare.

Mr Ward also shared a book quiz as a quick start activity for lessons as well as giving each English classroom a Shakespearean place name associated with each teacher's Shakespearean character.

World Book Day aims to help children explore the pleasure of books and reading. To mark the day, English teachers have been giving out £1 book tokens which can be exchanged for one of the specially published World Book Day £1 books or is redeemable against any book or audio book of their choice costing £2.99 or more at a participating bookshop/book club before 27 March or at our School book Fair between 21 and 25 April.

Check out the World Book Day website for lots of great activities and resources for students of all ages and especially the WBD TeenFest website which will be hosting the UK’s biggest online books party for teens, LIVE tonight (3 March) between 6 and 8pm.
