Follow Our Students in the Tall Ships Challenge

On Monday 11 July, for the first time, Jack Hunt School will be participating in the Tall Ships Challenge along with students and staff from Voyager School and Ormiston Bushfield Academy. The event is organised by Cross Key Homes in conjunction with Tall Ships Youth Trust and will be going on a voyage along the Solent, off the south coast, from July 11 to July 15.

Through this unique sailing experience, the trust introduces young people to life in a small maritime community, living in close proximity to others, sharing facilities, carrying out vessel’s routines and learning as a team to sail the Challengers and live onboard. This form of adventure training offers a wealth of opportunity for personal development by providing:

An unusual physical environment which requires an individual to adapt their conventional behaviour.
A physical challenge.
A psychological challenge.
The need for teamwork.
An awareness of the skills and roles that contribute to a successful team.
An awareness and understanding of others which often leads to lasting friendship and respect.
A sense of achievement and increased self-confidence through the acquisition of new skills, both sailing and social.
