U13 Girls Football Team Reach South Area Finals!

Football League U13 Girls Cup

Our U13 Girls football team were selected to represent Peterborough United in the football league area finals in Colchester.

U13 Girls Football Team PictureWe were up against strong opposition including Norwich City and Ipswich Town. The Jack Hunt team of 8 girls from year 7 and 8 played really well and worked great as a team.

In the quarter finals they were against Colchester and with a great goal by Georgie Elsom, went onto the semi finals against Watford. This was an exciting and very close game. At the end of normal play it was a draw so into the nail biting lottery of penalties. The Jack Hunt girls held their nerves to win 3 – 2.

The final was against Northampton Town. Again, this was an excellent game with loads of enthusiasm and commitment from both teams. Kia Welch scored a magnificent winning goal meaning Jack Hunt were the overall winners and champions.

The girls then travelled down to Charlton Athletic to play the Regional finals. The girls played some great football and worked so hard in every match; they came 4th overall and made myself and Miss Binn’s extremely proud. Well done to all those who made such a fantastic team.

We were awarded match tickets by Peterborough United and at the London Road game on March 17th as a thank you and well done for how well the girls have played, were presented with our new football kit at half time on the pitch and had our photo taken with Aaron McClean, one of the Posh Players.
