The Duke Of Edinburgh Award

How DofE runs at Jack Hunt School

DofE is the leading youth achievement award and helps young people stand out of the crowd when applying for jobs, apprenticeships and further education. Employers value the Award highly as it develops interpersonal and team work skills.

Jack Hunt School has a long history of DofE with students taking part in the Award over many years.

Approximately over 100 students are taking part in the Award at any time and we have an excellent completion rate. We are proud to be a Directly Licensed Centre for DofE, working closely with the Central Regional Team.

The Award is run in school by Mr O'Connor, our DofE Manager. He is supported by a number of staff, inlcuding our two Deputy Leaders, Miss Underwood and Mr Piper. We also have a large team of expedition volunteers including wider school staff. Mr Kent is our school's assessor and Mr McAuley is our Awards Verifier. Our leaders are responsible for various groups throughout the Award levels and mentor students with their eDofE accounts. All volunteers are DBS checked. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Mr O'Connor at the school (Loconnor@jackhunt.net).

All students are allocated a Leader once their Award level begins and they meet regularly. Their Leader will mentor and support them throughout their entire Award journey, from setting up their online eDofE account, expedition training and expeditions, to being there to see them achieve and collect their award at an Awards Ceremony at Peterborough Town Hall.
