Bronze

Bronze DofE is offered to students in year 10. It is launched to Year 9 students in the Spring  term each year and most students start their Award from September of Year 10 onwards.

All students complete activities in the four Award sections: Volunteering, Physical, Skills and Expedition section. Students identify and take part in Volunteering, Physical and Skills activities independently although we can advise students on their choice of activities and help them identify local opportunities. At Bronze level, two sections are followed for three months and one section for six months. The choice of the six month section is up to students.

The Expedition section is run through the school, delivered by the wider expedition team. For this section, students undertake a training expeditions, a 2 day practice expedition and 2 day qualifying expedition (assessment). This is often a new experience and full training is given to ensure students have the skills to successfully complete this section. The expedition training takes place between February-Easter Holidays, with practice expeditions after Easter and qualifying expeditions in the summer term, normally end of June/start of July.

Our expedition locations:

Practice - Sacrewell Farm, Thornaugh

Qualifying (Assessment) - Wing, Rutland

All students are expected to manage their DofE participation by regular use of their eDofE account with the support of their DofE Leader, either Mr Piper or Miss Underwood.
