Day 3

Today, we saw a change in the weather and had some light rain all day.  This did not dampen our spirit and we had a great day in Versailles.  We spent the morning in the town where we did a little bit of shopping, and had lunch. Margaret even sample the escargots!  Full mark for immersing herself in the French culture with one of the most challenging dishes on the menu!

We spent the afternoon at the Palace of Versailles.  It is the largest palace in the world and the shere scale of things there just gave you an idea of how decadent the lives of the kings and queens of France were at the time.  We spent our time wandering around in the gardens.  These are constantly used by artists as it offers an exceptional setting for large sculptures and some abstract installations.  Today we saw the works of Anish Kapour.

Tonight, we will be doing a little bit more shopping before eating dinner at a Crêperie near the Pompidou centre.  Really looking forward to a nice crêpe for dinner!
