Sporting Achievers

Jack Hunt School is proud of its many sporting stars, but recently some of the students were invited to lunch with Headteacher, Roy Duncan to congratulate them and talk about their achievements during the summer. Here is a round up of their achievements:

JAMES FOX (17) - ROWING - Year 13 - Under 18 Great Britain National Champion three times. 6th best at Henley.  Currently European Under 18 Champion winning Gold Medal at the European Championships in France.

THOMAS CHUNG (16) - Year 12 - ROWING - Under 18 Great Britain Junior European Championships in France - Silver and Bronze Medallist.  Henley semi finalist.

SAM TUCK (16) - Year 12 - ROWING - Great Britain Rower - qualified for Henley.  July 2009 - Under 16 Gold Medal.  National Championships achieved Silver Medal.

MEGAN LAWLESS (14) - Year 10 - ROWING - National Schools Junior under 14 Silver Medallist.

MICHAEL FRANKLAND (16) - Year 12 - ATHLETICS - 400M 4 X 400M - UK School Games in Cardiff September 09.  Currently 4th in the Country for his age group - Indoor 400m.

TOM STOKES (16) - SWIMMING - Year 12 - Received five Gold Medals at recent Inter-Schools Gala - now attending the National Inter-Schools Gala in October.

ASHLEY WATSON (15) - Year 11 - ATHLETICS - 100m Sprinter.  Narrowly missed out on attending English Schools Athletics Competition.

THALIA MARTIN (12) - Year 8 - TENNIS AND GOLF - Tennis in Indonesia and playing at club level.  Golf Scholarship PGL.

LEWIS HOOK (13) - Year 9 - ICE HOCKEY Represented Great Britain in the summer holidays in Canada (unable to attend the lunch).

Hayley Jeal, Curriculum Area Leader for PE said, “The PE Department wish them well and look forward to seeing their sporting achievements in the press in the future. Perhaps we will see some of them at the 2012 Olympic Games.”

Roy Duncan, Headteacher said, “These are very impressive achievements in a variety of sports by these young people. We are proud of them and look forward to their continued success in their chosen areas”.
